I'M CLEANING HOUSE AGAIN! For over ten years, I have hosted a number of USGenWeb county sites, independent history sites, personal genealogy sites, and vintage postcard sites for "lowcountry" South Carolina, East Tennessee, northeast Illinois (mostly DuPage County and Chicago), New London County, Connecticut, and various places in Georgia. If you're curious, all All of my history, genealogy, vintage postcard, and personal sites are listed HERE. I am a full time real estate agent, and definitely not a book seller, but every few years, I clean house and share the wealth of books and other genealogy and history materials. I may have more coming as I have time to list (and decide what I can give up and what I can't give up!), so check back frequently. All prices include shipping and handling. Books will be mailed bubble wrapped and boxed, and will be sent anywhere in the continental U.S. via United States Postal Service. If you have any questions please e-mail me. Pat Sabin. |

| DIARY DAVID GAVIN, 1850's-1870's.
Note: This is not the
hardcover professionally printed book published
by the Upper Dorchester County Genealogical Society in 2004. This
is a soft cover book of 8.5 x 11 photocopied pages of the original
diary transcription from the Southern Historical Collection at
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It was copied on high
quality paper and bound by retired printer, Jim Way. I purchased
this copy long before the book
was published in 2004. For decades, the David Gavin diaries have
been used as a virtual "who's who" of St. George, South Carolina, as
well as other areas of "lowcountry" S.C.. It includes David
Gavin's trip diary through Georgia and Alabama to Mississippi in the
1850's, and many families who migrated from South Carolina to
Mississippi in the 1830's are mentioned. It also includes slave
auction information, which has been valuable to African American
genealogical research. PHOTO 1

| CONFEDERADOS . Background:
After the end of the
Civil War, hundreds (maybe thousands) of individuals and families
migrated to Brazil and other South and Central American
countries. My great-great-great grandfather, Charles Gavin, was
one of them. He died in Brazil around 1886. The story of
these families is a small but fascinating chapter of Civil War history.
