East Tennessee Vintage Postcards
Vintage Postcard Knoxville Tennessee TN

Welcome to Vintage East Tennessee, a collection of vintage postcards of town scenes and events of East Tennessee.   I became fascinated with vintage postcards around 2000, at first as a way to enhance my personal history and genealogy sites.   I amassed quite a collection of vintage Chicago cards.   I  also have collected a few of Atlanta,  and my friend, Betty Jane Hylton, contributed some great Jonesborough cards to the Jonesborough town site.

I have deep family roots in East Tennessee.  My mother was born and raised in Greene County, and her families (Davis, White, and related) were in Greene County in the late 1700's.  My dad was born in Washington County, and his East TN families include Sevier, Cunningham, and related families of Greene and Washington County.  They both graduated from East Tenneessee State (Teacher's College back then). The first cards in this series were lent to this project by my aunt, and they are from her mother-in-law's collection of 1906-1910 cards.   I apologize for the quality of some of the early scans.   If you have connections in  East Tennessee, please check out my Genealogy Books For Sale.  Every several years, I clean house and recycle genealogy materials.  This group includes several out-of-print books, such as the book "Sevier Family History," and "Historic Greene County Tennessee and Its People."
